Nordom History

Putting this website together was a walk down memory lane for me......I spent many hours going through old photo boxes.....looking for that certain photo of that certain dog! Unlike now, in the world of digital cameras, etc., some of the photos were out of focus and some had become faded.....Nonetheless each photo brought back memories of all the Dogs we have been fortunate to have. How lucky we have been to have had so many wonderful chessies.....each and every one in their own way making an important contribution to the History of Nordom Chesapeakes.

Our First Retriever was a Chessy-Lab cross. Gunner was an extremely intelligent dog who looked like a Chessy, but was black in color. We then purchased a couple of pups, which we of course called "Bear" and "Chessy". Our First "Well-Bred" Chessies were purchased from Eloise Cherry. We had great success with these dogs. ***Cub's Lightening Bolt & **Cappy's Lady Go-Diver. "Lady" was the start of Nordom Chesapeakes. We bred her to Hans Kuck's Great Dog - CAFC CFC AFC Nanuk of Cheslang. We were fortunate enough to receive back a pup from this breeding, from a lady who felt that she would not be able to bring her to her full potential. It was a gesture that to this day we are gratefull for. "Chelsea" would turn out to be that once in a lifetime dog, who though her life was short (3 years), would not only make an impact on us, but the Chesapeake Breed as well. ***Nanuk's Lady Chesire Chelsea can be found on many Field Trial/Hunt Test Pedigrees. From "Chelsea" come the GIRLS OF NORDOM.

Although our roots are in Field Trials since the onset of the AKC Hunt Test Program we have been active in this venue. We have made 11 AKC Master Hunters so far, numerous Junior and Senior Hunters.
